Preferred term

critical victimology

Definition

  • Not everyone is at equal risk of being the victim of crime, and some victims get more attention than do others. For example, ironically, at a time when North American crime discussion is dominated by calls for more prisons, more executions, and victims' rights, some female crime victims are belittled.
