  • Developmental disabilities are a global health matter, affecting individuals from childhood through adulthood, presenting various special issues for families, educational, and healthcare systems throughout the world. A developmental disability, as defined by the U.S. government in Public Law 95–602, is a chronic mental and/or physical impairment, which manifests before age 22.
