  • In 1975 and in 1993 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) developed and revised the International Environmental Education Programme (IEEP) to serve as the guidelines for environmental education. These international principles included facilitation of environmental awareness, knowledge of the environment and its related problems, values and views of apprehension for environmental improvement and protection, and skills for recognizing and solving environmental problems and possibilities to participate in dealing with environmental problems.
