Definition

  • The term hoarding describes the excessive acquisition of relatively worthless things to the extent that it compromises the living space or daily activities of the affected person. This individual is referred to as a “hoarder.” Hoarding is considered a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), but many people who hoard show no other OCD traits.
