Definition

  • An intranet is a technology-mediated model used in distributed learning to display information, to interact, and to communicate within a secure, networked environment. In distributed learning, intranets are used for intense asynchronous and synchronous communication between professors and students via e-mail, digital drop-boxes, threaded discussions, chat rooms, forms, and course content materials (i.e., syllabi, lecture notes, and study guides).
