Definition
- Neoconservatives formed a new conservative political movement in reaction to the growing influence of liberalism in American life in the 1960s and 1970s. Most neoconservatives were former liberals themselves but drifted toward conservatism and away from the Left because they had come to believe that liberalism had failed to live up to its promises.
