- Neurology is the branch of medicine responsible for studying, diagnosing, and treating patients with disorders of the nervous system. This involves the central nervous system (CNS—the brain and spinal cord), the peripheral nervous system (PNS—cranial and peripheral nerves), and the autonomic nervous system (ANS—part of both the CNS and PNS).
