phenomenology

Definition

  • Phenomenology entered the field of geography during the late 1960s and early 1970s, when geographers began to draw from this philosophical tradition to critique spatial science. Phenomenologist geographers argued that a spatial scientific approach based on an objective epistemology failed to account for subjective human experiences of place.
