post-consumer waste

Definition

  • Post-consumer waste can be strictly defined as the part of the waste stream that individuals and households dispose of, rather than recycling or reusing in some manner. There is an expectation—often both unexamined and inaccurate—that post-consumer waste not only has no remaining utility but also that it is destined for destruction of some sort.
