  • A radiometric dating technique based on the decay of 40 K to the daughter isotope 40 Ar, by electron capture. Together with argon-argon (Ar-40/Ar-39) dating, K-Ar dating is principally used to obtain the ages of potassium-rich minerals in volcanic lavas and tuffs.
