Preferred term

production of space

Definition

  • The phrase production of space comes from French philosopher Henri Lefebvre, who used it as the title of a famous book published in France in 1974. The book was a sophisticated attempt to bring the analytical rigor and political edge of Marxist theory to bear on questions of space and, with that, to revolutionize Marxist theory itself.
