Definition

  • The health of refugees and internally displaced people depends on the availability of basic health services, immunization programs, health education, and adequate living conditions defined by shelter, food and nutrition, water and sanitation, education, and environment. Health and nutrition services for refugee populations are divided into five categories: immunization, nutritional support, control of communicable diseases, reproductive health services, chronic illness, mental health, and public health surveillance.
