Preferred term

school nutrition policies: school parties and celebrations

Definition

  • A growing concern about childhood obesity has led to state and federal laws addressing the nutrition of school meals, and also to a consensus among parents, teachers, and community members about the need for students to have healthy options at breakfast and at lunch. However, there has been less consensus and even some tension about food served at school that isn't part of a meal.
