Definition

  • The Physician Payment Review Commission (PPRC) was a group created by Congress in 1986 to advise lawmakers on physician reimbursement issues under medicare. PPRC and a parallel advisory commission for hospitals, the prospective payment assessment commission (ProPAC), were merged into a single entity, called the medicare payment advisory commission (MedPAC) as part of the 1997 Balanced Budget Act (PL 105–33).
