Concept information

Preferred term

aerobic capacity and aging

Definition

  • The aging of the population makes the preservation of functional ability and cognitive function and the prevention of premature cardiovascular (CV) mortality even more pertinent. A growing body of literature suggests that regular aerobic exercise among older individuals of all ages, frail or not, may attenuate the consequences of age-related changes to the CV and cerebrovascular system.
