federal college and university campus legislation

Definition

  • The involvement of the federal government in how institutions of postsecondary education, including trade schools, colleges, and universities, deal with crime on their campuses has expanded greatly since the early 1990s in response to high-profile incidents of violence involving campus communities. The general focus of this activity has been to provide for the greater disclosure of security information so that campus community members can make informed decisions about avoiding and preventing criminal victimization.
