  • The presentencing phase of the criminal justice process is the time period after a defendant is found guilty of a crime and before the judge imposes a sentence. One of the most important documents considered during the presentencing phase is the presentence investigation report, which provides comprehensive coverage of a defendant's social and criminal history for the court.
