  • During the past decade, advocates and homeless shelter workers from around the country have seen an increase in reports of homeless men, women, and even children being killed, beaten, and harassed. Over the 6-year period from 1999 to 2004, the National Coalition for the Homeless documented 156 murders and 386 violent acts against homeless individuals.
