Definition
- Peacemaking criminology is a set of diverse traditions (religious, feminist, and critical) that share a critique of a culture permeated by an obsession with competition and oppression. While only recently appearing as a formal theory in academia, it builds on the philosophy and actions of historical peacemakers from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. [Source: Encyclopedia of Social Deviance; Peacemaking Criminology]
