- Santería (also known as regla de ocha, orisha, or Lucumi) is a transatlantic extension of Yoruba religion into the Caribbean. The homeland of the Yoruba people is in southwestern Nigeria, but they have also settled in Togo and the Republic of Benin and have spread to those areas an ancient religious system that now also has thousands of devotees in the Americas.
