clergy sex scandals
Definition
- Clergy sex abuse scandals within the Catholic Church in the United States have involved decades of internally reported and documented sexual abuse perpetrated by Catholic priests and deacons against minors. The Catholic Church as an institution and the bishops as its agents have been viewed as avoiding their responsibility in handling these disclosures, both with the offending clergy and traumatized victims.
