Definition
- Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is a shorthand term for an approach to patient care in which decisions about the management of the individual patient are made by the clinician using his or her personal experience and expertise combined with use of the bestquality and most up-to-date scientific evidence. Summarized in this way, it may be thought that there is nothing about EBM to distinguish it from the main traditions that have dominated the science of health care provision for the past 200 or 300 years.
