parental consent
Definition
- Parental consent is a legal requirement that health care professionals obtain the permission of one or both parents before rendering treatment to minors. When parental consent is applied to abortion, the U.S. Supreme Court has required that states employ a judicial bypass allowing a judge to consent to the procedure if the minor does not wish to consult her parents.
