Definition
- Also known as Arab Revolutionary Brigade, Black June, Black September, and Fatah Revolutionary Council, the Abu Nidal Organization (ANO), a Palestinian terrorist group, was the best-organized, best-funded, and most active terrorist network of the late 1970s and 1980s. Sabri al Banna, better known by his nom de guerre, Abu Nidal (meaning “father of struggle”), founded the ANO in 1974. [Source: The SAGE Encyclopedia of Terrorism; Abu Nidal Organization]
