- The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is a Muslim military group in the southern Philippines. MILF was created in 1981 when it split off from the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), a Muslim separatist group that waged a 24-year guerrilla war against the Philippine government to achieve an independent Islamic state.
