gender transgression
Definition
- Gender transgression, as discussed in this entry, is a broad term that denotes diverse phenomena when individuals do not fit the sex/gender categories attributed to them at their birth but instead act social roles not typically associated with their natal sex, diverging thus from the normative gender role. Transgender does not imply any specific form of sexual orientation because gender-variant individuals may identify as heterosexual, bisexual, queer, homosexual, asexual, or pansexual.
