Definition
- Over the past 50 years, there have been dramatic changes in the styles of contemporary popular music, but despite dynamic changes in the types of musical genres favored by adolescents and young adults (the major consumers of popular music), the lyrical theme of being in love remains the most common. The manner in which the experience of being in love is described in song lyrics, however, has changed during the past five decades.
