Definition
- Before the former Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991 and the Berlin Wall was torn down, one of the greatest fears in the United States was that of a nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union. Even though the threat of nuclear warfare between countries is a possibility, it is no longer the primary concern. [Source: Encyclopedia of Crisis Management; Nuclear and Radiological Weapons]
